Spiritual Tradition

We all have a spiritual life in one way or another. For some it could be reincarnation, for another it could be cooking, it can be cleaning, communing with nature, going to a church, painting, following a sports team, or just about anything else. A spiritual life is just something that we connect to that is larger than ourselves. That can even take the ultimate form of finding a purpose to the time we spend on this earth.

Without awareness, cultivation and intention any spiritual connection can become commonplace and lose its meaning. It takes our devotion and reverence to take an ordinary act into the realm of nurturing the spirit.

When we are connected to our own spirituality it can add depth, direction and meaning to all that we do. If provides a larger purpose to this existence, and can often offer guidance in times of distress. It turns a dandelion growing out of a crack in the sidewalk into an act of divinity and a metaphor for life.

Need more convincing? Spiritual people have proven to: live longer, have better health, less stress, more adaptable in times of stress, have more positive feelings, have better interpersonal relationships, and have lower blood pressure and depression rates than their non spiritual peers.

Like anything else in this lifetime your definition of spirituality can change over time. As we age that which speaks to us will shift. When we rigidly hold on to our spiritually is can become dogmatic in nature. There are times in life when we need to intentionally reconnect to or redirect the focus of our spirituality.

This could be that time for you. Bellow I will offer a way to reconnect and cultivate your spiritual life and if you think this is an area that you would like to cultivate more than please reach out and start your spiritual tradition today.

  • Volunteer - Start a life of service. Do this as an individual or as a family. You will begin to cultivate an awareness beyond your immediate circle of people and needs, and begin to open your heart out to the world at large. When you do this inevitably shifts will occur that will deepen your connection to your spiritual self. Your spiritual life is about linking you to something beyond yourself, so when you offer yourself to other people or a larger purpose you are inevitably doing exactly that. I would recommend keeping a journal in this time so you can take note of the internal shifts you are experiencing. They may seem small at first but if you follow the threads of awareness they will lead you to something larger.
