Fire Tradition

We are on our last elemental being! I saved fire for last because it is the elemental being that I associate with the most. Most of my adult life has been about learning to dampen my fiery energy rather than burn everything and everyone around me. And part of learning how to mitigate one thing is by bringing attention and focus to other areas that you want to cultivate to balance those things.

So now that you have done the work of bringing into alignment the other 3 elements we can begin to work with fire. To recap: Through the lens of air you learned about letting the tumultuous winds take away what is no longer serving you on your personal journey, with water you saw the gifts of learning about the areas of your life that need reinforcing (leaks) through your awareness and attention (patching holes), with grounding you received the firm nurturing foundation to take up this work, and now we have fire, the energy to start your own healing personal practice.

This is it. Now it is the time to do this work. With a conscious focus on fire you must find the sweet spot, where you have the heat to begin, but that it does not burn out of control to your own detriment.

When the fire element is in balance you will experience clarity of vision, passion, courage, drive and self-confidence. This is where you get things done, you see through your tasks in a clear and conscious way, and where you can illuminate and see the path forward to meet your goals in a clear and conscience way.

When fire is out of alignment you will experience rage, impoliteness, egocentricity, burn out, and fatigue. This energy can really be in overwhelm when you are a caregiver or guardian and you are constantly on the go being in service to others. You are essentially in over drive over and it is about finding a healthy balance. That when you are in service to ourselves you are better able to tend to those around you when available to them.

In order to fuel our energy we must collect proverbial kindling. Just as a fire needs matter to continue burning so don’t you as a human being. This means finding practices that enhance your life (ahem… like your own Mindful Tradition). This could also be accomplished by inviting fire into your life in a more literal sense. Host a bonfire or light a candle for dinner every night. You could also engage in a rigorous yoga flow to build up the heat in the body. You can go to my Instagram page and find a fire flow video with this exact intention in mind. Here I will offer you an exercise to begin to cultivate your own fire energy, however if this is a topic that you want more support on please reach out today to find your Mindful Tradition.
